Evaluation of a Novel Nutrition Supplement on Cognitive Function and Cerebral Blood Flow in Young Children Living in Rural Villages in Guinea-Bissau.

 

OBJECTIVES:

Undernutrition is prevalent among young children worldwide and is associated with impaired cognition and reduced educational attainment. We conducted a randomized controlled trial to test the effect of a novel supplementary food (regenerative nutrition for enhanced wellness-cognition; RENEW-C) compared to traditional feeding practices on cognitive function, cerebral blood flow and oxygen metabolism in rural Guinea-Bissau.

Effect Of A Biofortified Food Basket On Micronutrient Status And Immune And Cognitive Function Among Infants In India

Brief Summary:
In this study, a multiple food crops basket (containing four either biofortified or commercially-available food crops) will be fed to young children in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, India over a period of nine months to measure growth, cognitive changes, and immune function in comparison to children receiving non-biofortified crops. Lactating women (their mothers) will also be included in the study.

Study of Environmental Enteropathy and Malnutrition in Pakistan SEEM

Environmental Enteropathy (EE) is an acquired sub-clinical inflammatory gut condition in which alterations in intestinal structure, function, and local and systemic immune activation lead to impaired vaccine responses, decreased cognitive potential and undernutrition in low-middle income countries. Approximately half of all global deaths in children aged less than five years are attributable to undernutrition making the study of EE an area of critical priority.

Effectiveness of unconditional Cash transfers and mobile behaviour change communications to reduce child under nutrition in rural Bangladesh

Our study aims to assess the effectiveness of mobile phone nutrition behaviour change communication combined with unconditional cash transfers in reducing the prevalence of stunting (length-for-age < -2 Z) in children at 24 months.
